The Oak & Oscar Olmsted was one of my favorite watches I reviewed last year (review here). I was looking to follow that review up with a review of the Humboldt and the founder of Oak & Oscar told me, “Hang tight, we have something in the works.” I was excited to see what they were cooking up.
The watch to come out of Oak & Oscar’s kitchen is an update to the Humboldt, the Humboldt GMT. This watch takes everything great about the Humboldt and gives it a styling adjustment as well as a full-fledged GMT complication (the previous Humboldt was a 3-hand watch with a 12-hour bezel). Not only is the Humboldt GMT getting some updates to its complications, but it also getting an anti-shock and anti-magnetic enclosure. Given Oak & Oscar’s ethos of using your watches and not babying them, this fits right in.
Each colorway of the Humboldt GMT is built for legibility with high-contrast dial options. The classic Oak & Oscar colorways of white and navy blue will return. Oak & Oscar is introducing a matte black dial, which is a first for the brand (The lume pattern on the white dial is extremely cool).
The Humboldt has always had great dimensions designed to fit a variety of wrists and the GMT will be no exception. The Humboldt GMT will come in at 39.5mm wide, 46.8mm lug-to-lug, and 12.5mm thick. The Humboldt GMT is available now with a $100 pre-order discount for a limited time. The full MSRP will be $1925 and $2125 on leather and a bracelet respectively. The Humboldt GMT is expected to ship Q2 of 2022. We will have a full video review in the coming months.
