First Look: Traska Venturer

When Traska launches a watch, it is almost a surefire guarantee that it is going to sell out. Their watches are thoughtfully designed, well-built, and affordably priced. Their last release, the Commuter (review here) was their take on the ever-popular sport dress watch. It drew inspiration from classics in this category like the Rolex Datejust and Oyster Perpetual. Traska is launching their next watch, which I see as an evolution of the Commuter. Introducing, the Venturer.

The first thing that stuck out to me when looking at the press images of the Venturer was the crown at 10 o’clock. It is undeniably Seamaster-inspired in my mind but after talking with Jon from Traska, that wasn’t quite it. The first watch he ever lusted after was the Jaegar-LeCoultre Master Geographic, which also had a crown at 10 o’clock.

As we have come to expect from Traska, the sizing of the Venturer is designed to be a crowd pleaser. Coming in at 38.5mm wide, 46mm lug-to-lug and only 10.5mm thick (not including the crystal), the Venturer is slightly larger than the Commuter and will give the dial elements a little extra breathing room. It should also carry enough wrist presence due to the internal rotating 12-hour bezel. The Venturer will also carry staples of Traska’s watches like their proprietary hardness coating, perlage finishing on the clasp, and a screwdown crown with 150m of water resistance.
