First Look: Christopher Ward C65 Chronograph

Christopher Ward’s C65 line seems to be a runaway success for the brand. They have expanded the line to include multiple sizes, dial colors and complications. Christopher Ward is launching a new addition to the C65 line with a chronograph.  Let’s take a look at the new Christopher Ward C65 Chronograph.

Those familiar with the C65 Dartmouth (my favorite watch from the brand, review here) will recognize the bezel and some of the dial elements right off the bat. It looks to carry over the same shade of blue from the Dartmouth as well.

Christopher Ward is adding a touch of 60s and 70s style to the watch with some added pops of color on the subdial and central chronograph hand. It certainly channels some of the funky vibes of chronographs from that area and I’m happy to see Christopher Ward not apply any fauxtina to the watch.

Anytime a brand introduces a chronograph to their lineup the first thing I always check is the thickness of the watch. It’s easy to get lazy with design and add a chronograph to a watch and it comes out being 17mm thick. Thankfully, that is not the case with theC65 Chronograph. The C65 Chronograph will come with the Sellita SW510 BH. The movement is modeled after the Valijoux 7750 so the 15mm thick case of the C65 Chronograph makes sense. The case looks to be based on their fantastic lightcatcher case so I’m positive the watch will wear slimmer than 15mm.

The C65 Chronograph is based on the brand’s dive watches so it should come as no surprise that the watch will have 150m of water resistance. This is thanks to the screwdown crown and pushers. While screwdown pushers can make the chronograph slightly more difficult to use at a moments notice, it does add extra security.

We will be reviewing the C65 Chronograph soon and I’ll save the rest of my comments for when I can touch and feel the watch. I have a feeling this will be another winner from Christopher Ward, especially if it wears slimmer than the 15mm case would suggest. Keep an eye out for our review.

The C65 Chronograph will be priced from $1,935 on the leather strap (add about $200 for the bracelet) and is available now.

Will has been a photographer for nearly 15 years. Coming from the world of landscapes and architecture, watches were something he never thought he would photograph. In 2018 he founded The Watch Clicker to bring his love for watches and photography together. Photographing watches quickly turned into also writing about watches and the reviews you see today are the product of that evolution. Dive watches and chronographs dominate his collection as he is a die hard tool watch fan. Will believes that you should wear a watch how you want to. Leather on a dive watch? No problem.
